Have you picked up on the fact that I love/adore/am deeply loyal to Trader Joe’s? 🙂 One of the many reasons I love/adore/am deeply loyal is their pre-packaged fresh greens and vegetables. One example of such produce is their Shaved Brussels Sprouts. If you follow this blog regularly, you’ll see that I use these bags o’ goodness in various creations.
- 1 Tablespoon toasted sesame oil
- 2 bags shaved brussels sprouts, contents rinsed
In large wok or saute pan, heat sesame oil on medium-high. Add 2 bags of shaved brussels sprouts + teaspoon of salt and a few grinds of freshly ground black pepper. Stir with heat-proof spatula or wooden spoon (or flip contents of pan, if so-skilled!) to keep everything moving. The pieces are small enough that they will cook quickly.
After 2 minutes, turn heat off and add 1 Tablespoon sesame seeds (these can be raw or toasted). Taste veggies to see if they are seasoned & cooked to your liking.
Yield: approximately 8 servings. I cook a batch of this and eat 2 portions for my servings of green veggies at a meal — I eat it under my “frittata” or alongside my protein at lunch or dinner.
If you do not have a Trader Joe’s (sniff sniff), you could … gasp … cut the veg yourself. I like the convenience of pre-cut, store-bought. Not as good, admittedly, as whole veggies you cut yourself — but probably more nutritious than frozen or canned. A nice compromise! 🙂
